"Reaching Out, Beyond The Walls"
NDT Outreach Ministry has been distributing food to those in need since November 2002. Initially we did not have a facility or the space to allow families to come to us. Therefore, our ministry went out into the community and distributed food to the homes of families in Ulster and Orange counties. We started out feeding 15 families and 75 individuals and we now provide assistance to 791 families and well over 3313 individuals in need. In January 2004, NDT purchased a building in Plattekill, NY. A permanent home affords us the opportunity to reach out to the community and expand our ministry. We are glad to be a member of the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, and hope to reach out and offer aid to the many that are in need. The ministry is unique in that prior to becoming a member of the food bank we were funded by donations contributed by our members and from local merchants. We feel that operating our food pantry on Saturday allows us to service and assist individuals and family members that are working during the week. As stated above, we started our ministry by going out into the community and, if necessary, we will continue to do so; when there is a need and circumstances will not allow the recipient to come to our Plattekill facility (i.e., no transportation).
